Counter Darkness With A New Menorah Lighting

Our hearts are heavy after the horrific terror attack in Sydney - an attempt to extinguish the 2,200-year-old light of Chanukah. We pray for the holy souls who were taken, for the healing of the injured, and for strength for a shaken Jewish community.

So what do we do now?

We do what Jews have always done – we add light!

On Sunday, December 21 at 5pm we are responding in the most Jewish way possible: by adding one more public menorah lighting in our community this Chanukah.

Not retreating. Not hiding. But standing taller, brighter, and prouder.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe taught that darkness is not chased away with arguments or fear - it is dispelled by adding light. One flame. Then another. Then another.

So here is our call to action:
Come light, sing, and stand together as we publicly and confidently celebrate who we are. Show up to one extra Chanukah event. Your presence matters.

🔥Every extra flame is a statement.
🔥Every gathering is strength.
🔥Every act of Jewish pride is a victory.

May the flames lit in Jewish homes and public spaces everywhere form a powerful constellation of light, pushing away darkness and bringing healing, courage, and hope to our world.

We invite you to join us at Honeygo Village Center and help us turn pain into purpose and grief into light.

With warm Chanukah wishes,
Rabbi Tzvi & Sarah Schectman
